About The Film
It is the mid-1970s, and Ken Carter is a Canadian stunt driver with a reputation for taking risks that most people would not dare to. After a long career of daring feats, he decides he wants one last big moment: a record breaking jump across the St. Lawrence River in a rocket powered car.
He hopes it will bring him a big paycheck and lasting fame. To make the dream happen, Ken hires a sports manager and brings in the best rocket car designers he can find, while a film crew follows the build-up to the event. As the date gets closer, he has to deal with skeptics, money problems, and personal demons, and the plan runs into one absurd obstacle after another.
Based on a true story, the film blends comedy and drama as it follows an underdog who refuses to give up on a dream everyone else thinks is impossible, and it asks what a person is willing to risk for one shot at greatness.
