About The Film
Nawmai: The Wancho Warrior is set among the Wancho community of Arunachal Pradesh, in a time when disputes over land often led to conflict between neighbouring villages. At the heart of the story is a Wancho warrior who finds himself pushed into rebellion, standing up to defend his people’s land, culture and way of life against threats from outside forces.
As tensions between villages escalate, the warrior’s journey becomes as much personal as it is about defending his community, with themes of love and honour woven closely into his fight. The film draws on real cultural traditions and the lived history of the Wancho people, using their customs and setting to ground its story of conflict in something rooted and authentic rather than purely fictional spectacle.
Balancing large-scale battle sequences with intimate moments of courage and sacrifice, the film follows its central warrior as he navigates the demands of duty, loyalty and love in a world where land and honour carry immense weight.
Without revealing how the rebellion or the warrior’s personal journey ultimately unfolds, Nawmai brings the resilience and spirit of the Wancho community to the screen through a story of one man’s fight to protect everything he holds dear.
