About The Film
Set in Oregon in 1933, at the height of the Great Depression, the film follows Samuel Murphy, a man serving time in a labor camp after the death of his wife left him separated from his young daughter, Penny.
When Samuel is offered a shot at an early release, the catch is steep: he must join a small group tasked with transporting a fortune in gold across a stretch of unforgiving wilderness, all under the watchful, iron-fisted control of the camp’s overseer, Clancy.
As the journey unfolds, Samuel finds himself navigating not just the dangers of the terrain itself, but the shifting tensions among the men he’s forced to rely on, all while holding onto the hope of being reunited with his daughter.
The film leans into a stripped down, tension driven survival story, with its central dynamic between prisoner and overseer drawing comparisons to classic 1970s thrillers.
