Nayanthara’s highly anticipated fantasy sequel Mookuthi Amman 2 finally hit the screens on 6 November 2026, and the opening day numbers are now in. Made on a reported budget of ₹100 crore, the Sundar C directorial was always going to face high expectations given the scale and the star’s strong pull in the Tamil market.
On Day 1 the film collected ₹1.88 crore net in India, which translates to ₹2.15 crore gross. The movie ran in 2,127 shows and registered an overall occupancy of 24.1%. Average collection per show stood at around ₹8,839. Footfalls crossed 1.67 lakh tickets.Language wise, the Tamil version did the heavy lifting with ₹1.75 crore net from 1,881 shows (roughly 24% occupancy).
The Telugu version added ₹13 lakh from 246 shows.State-wise, Tamil Nadu remained the clear stronghold, contributing ₹1.80 crore gross almost 84% of the total India gross. Andhra Pradesh-Telangana together added ₹15 lakh, Karnataka ₹10 lakh, Kerala ₹7 lakh, and the rest of India a modest ₹3 lakh.
Day-wise India Gross Collection
Day 1 (Friday, 6 Nov 2026): ₹2.15 Cr
Advance bookings had been steady but not explosive in the days leading up to release, so the final Day 1 figure is pretty much in line with what trade expected from the pre-sales trend. The film opened in a crowded festive window, which limited screen availability in some key centres, but single screen occupancy in Tamil Nadu still held up reasonably well in the evening and night shows.
Compared to the original Mookuthi Amman (which went straight to OTT in 2020 and became a big digital success), this theatrical outing is operating on a completely different scale and pressure. With a big budget and heavy VFX, the makers will be hoping positive word-of-mouth kicks in over the weekend so that the holds improve from Saturday onwards.
Early overseas numbers are still being compiled, so the current worldwide gross is essentially the India figure of ₹2.15 crore. The next two days will decide whether Mookuthi Amman 2 can build momentum or remains a modest opener. For now, the Day 1 performance is clear — a steady but underwhelming start for a ₹100 crore project.
