About The Social Reckoning
The Social Reckoning follows Frances Haugen, a former Facebook engineer who discovers internal information about the company’s practices. She approaches Jeff Horwitz, a journalist at The Wall Street Journal, to help reveal what the documents show about Facebook’s impact on users and society.
As the investigation progresses, Haugen faces difficult decisions about sharing confidential information and speaking publicly about the company. The film also portrays Mark Zuckerberg and the questions surrounding Facebook’s algorithms, online safety and corporate responsibility.
Inspired by real events associated with the Facebook Files investigation, the story examines the consequences of exposing information about one of the world’s largest social media platforms.
