Suriya’s Scene has kicked off its theatrical run on a solid note. The Jithu Madhavan directed action comedy, which hit screens on 6 November 2026 just ahead of Diwali, collected an estimated ₹19.15 crore net in India on its opening day. Adding the overseas contribution of around ₹12 crore, the film’s worldwide gross stood at ₹34.25 crore.India gross for the day worked out to ₹22.25 crore.
The numbers came from 6,167 shows across Tamil and Telugu versions, with overall occupancy touching 55 percent. Roughly 14.31 lakh tickets were sold on Day 1. The Tamil version did the heavy lifting, contributing ₹16.15 crore net from 4,878 shows at 57.1 percent occupancy. The Telugu version added ₹3 crore net from 1,289 shows with 47.1 percent occupancy.
Tamil Nadu led the domestic markets, while Kerala turned in a particularly strong performance for Suriya, helping push the overall total higher than his previous two openings this year.Scene was mounted on a controlled budget. Trade estimates put the production cost in the ₹30–60 crore range (depending on whether star remuneration and marketing are fully included), which makes the opening day recovery look healthy right out of the gate.
The film had already secured strong non theatrical deals before release, so the theatrical start is pure upside. For context, Suriya’s earlier 2026 releases opened lower on Day 1. Scene has improved on those figures both domestically and worldwide, giving the actor his biggest opening-day haul of the year so far. Positive early audience response and the festive window should help the film build further over the weekend.
Day-wise (gross) so far is straightforward:
Day 1 (Friday, 6 November): India Gross ₹22.25 Cr | Worldwide Gross ₹34.25 Cr
Occupancy stayed healthy through the day, with night shows performing especially well in key centres. Advance bookings had already shown decent traction, and the final Day 1 numbers confirmed that interest was genuine rather than just advance driven.
With a relatively lean budget and a strong first day footprint, Scene has given itself a good platform. The next few days will show how well word of mouth sustains the momentum, but the opening itself is clearly one of Suriya’s more encouraging starts in recent times.
