Diary, an Odia film directed by Susant Mani, released in theatres on 12 June 2026. It stars Ardhendu Sahu and Jasmine Rath in the leads, with Kuna Tripathy also in a key role.
The movie mixes action, drama and romance while focusing on memories, relationships and personal secrets. As a regional release, it has drawn modest attention from Ollywood followers who were curious after the teaser and trailer.
The story follows a man whose life is closely tied to a diary that holds pages from his past. Through these entries, layers of love, family bonds, hidden truths and life-changing moments come to light. It is a reflective tale that moves between emotional highs and some dramatic turns without big twists or heavy action set pieces.
Early audience reactions shared around the trailer and first-day screenings have been mixed but polite. Many viewers appreciated the sincere effort, the chemistry between the lead pair and the way music supports the emotional scenes. Some liked the blend of romance and family drama.
On the other side, a few felt the story follows familiar romantic drama patterns and moves at a slow pace in parts. Overall sentiment among those who watched early shows a quiet acceptance rather than strong excitement. People seem to value it more as a simple, feeling-driven regional film than as a mass entertainer.
The film will appeal most to fans of heartfelt relationship stories and viewers who enjoy slower, character-focused dramas. Its strength lies in the honest performances and the attempt to tell a personal story rooted in emotions. The weakness is a lack of fresh narrative ideas and uneven pacing.
If you like supporting Odia cinema and do not mind an introspective watch, it can be seen in theatres. Those looking for fast-paced action or completely new storytelling might prefer to wait for streaming.
Final Verdict: Diary is a sincere but average emotional drama that explores love, memories and relationships through its Odia setting. It offers decent performances and relatable moments without standing out as exceptional. It is a fair one-time watch for fans of simple regional romantic dramas but may not leave a lasting impression.
