About The Film
Hope is a South Korean science fiction action thriller written and directed by Na Hong-jin, known earlier for The Chaser, The Yellow Sea, and The Wailing.
The story is set in Hope Harbor, a remote coastal town near the Demilitarized Zone, where a police chief and local hunters are drawn into a search after reports of a strange creature in the area.
What starts as a local search turns into a wider struggle for the community. The film stars Hwang Jung-min as the town’s police chief, with Zo In-sung and Jung Ho-yeon playing key roles among the local residents and hunters.
Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander appear through motion capture performances, alongside Taylor Russell and Cameron Britton. The final theatrical cut runs 156 minutes.
