About The Film
Heart of the Beast is a survival thriller directed by David Ayer, from a screenplay by Cameron Alexander, marking Ayer’s reunion with Brad Pitt more than a decade after they worked together on Fury. The story follows James Belmont, a retired Special Forces officer, who is left stranded in the remote Alaskan wilderness after his plane crashes.
His only companion through the ordeal is Odin, his retired combat dog, and the film follows the pair as they face extreme cold, dangerous terrain, and the physical and emotional toll of trying to survive together. Brad Pitt stars as James Belmont, with J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe in supporting roles, and German Shepherd Uber playing Odin.
The film runs 101 minutes and is produced by Ayer alongside Olivia Hamilton, Brad Pitt, Marty Bowen, Richard Raymond, and Nick Satriano, with Wild Chickens Productions and Temple Hill Entertainment among its production companies. It had a non-competition premiere at the San Sebastián International Film Festival ahead of its wide theatrical release.
