Our Review
Andharan is a mystery romantic thriller that attempts to blend suspense with emotional elements. Directed by Santhosh Raavanan, the film carries a hunter themed narrative with thriller and romantic angles. While the genre mix has the potential to attract a section of the audience, the film has failed to create any significant pre-release excitement or curiosity.
The lack of strong promotion and the absence of big-star backing have clearly affected its visibility among regular moviegoers. At the box office, Andharan has opened to a very poor response. Early reports suggest extremely low occupancy across most theatres, which indicates that the film has not managed to connect with audiences even on its opening day.
In a competitive release week, it is struggling to stand out and attract footfalls. For a film of this scale, the initial numbers are highly disappointing. Unless it receives exceptionally positive reviews and generates strong word-of-mouth in the next two days, it will find it very difficult to sustain in theatres.
Compared to other recent Tamil thrillers that managed to create some buzz through gripping trailers or strong performances, Andharan appears to be missing that crucial connect. As of now, it is off to a very slow start and looks headed for a flop verdict unless there is a sudden and unexpected improvement over the weekend. The coming days will be decisive for the film’s theatrical run.
