Risk: The Game of Youth, a Telugu comedy romantic thriller, released in theatres on 26 June 2026. Directed by Gantadi Krishna, the film stars Sandeep Ashwa, Sanya Thakur, Zoya Zaveri, Rajiv Kanakala and other supporting actors. It follows a group of youngsters whose normal lives suddenly spiral into chaos after they get pulled into a series of dangerous and unexpected events.

The film attempts to blend humour, romance, friendship, action and suspense into one package, targeting the youth audience. The film has opened to a very poor response on its first day. Advance bookings were extremely low, and according to ground reports, most theatres across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are running with almost zero occupancy. Being a mid-scale youth-centric film without any major star power or strong pre-release promotions, it is struggling badly to attract even the minimum number of audiences.

Our Review

Risk: The Game of Youth is a youthful multi-genre entertainer that tries to combine comedy, romance, action, suspense and friendship into a single narrative. The film follows a group of youngsters whose ordinary lives take a dramatic and dangerous turn after they get caught in unexpected events. Director Gantadi Krishna has attempted to create a fast-paced story that appeals to the youth by mixing light-hearted moments with thriller elements.

While the concept of blending multiple genres has the potential to attract younger audiences, the film has failed to generate any meaningful pre-release excitement or curiosity. On the opening day, Risk: The Game of Youth is facing a near-complete washout. Most theatres are reporting extremely low or almost zero occupancy, which clearly shows that the audience has not shown any interest in watching the film.

In a crowded release week that includes bigger films from other industries, this mid-scale Telugu release is struggling badly to stand out. The lack of strong promotion, absence of big-star backing, and failure to create any strong buzz before release have directly impacted its visibility and footfalls. For a film that relies on youth energy and multi-genre appeal, the initial numbers are highly disappointing.

Even if the content has some entertaining portions, the current lack of audience turnout suggests that it has not managed to connect with viewers. Compared to other recent Telugu youth-centric films that sometimes manage to create some initial noise through better marketing or relatable content, Risk: The Game of Youth appears to be missing that crucial connect. With such a poor opening and no signs of improvement in the coming days, the film has almost no chance of sustaining in theatres beyond the first weekend.

As of now, Risk: The Game of Youth stands as another example of how poor pre-release planning and lack of audience connect can lead to a complete box office disaster for a mid-scale film. Unless there is some unexpected miracle through exceptional word-of-mouth (which looks highly unlikely), the film is headed for an early exit from theatres. The makers will now have to hope for some recovery through digital platforms after its theatrical run ends prematurely.
