Comrade Kalyan Steady at Box Office Sree Vishnu’s latest, Comrade Kalyan, landed in theatres on 9 October 2026 and has been quietly finding its audience. Directed by Janakiram Marella and co-starring Mahima Nambiar, the period comedy-drama set in a 1990s Naxal-dominated village on the Andhra-Odisha border mixes romance, misunderstandings and laughs.
It opened to a U/A certificate and a runtime of about 2 hours 25 minutes. Advance bookings looked promising at around ₹7.45 crore (including blocked seats) from over 6.4 lakh tickets across more than 7,000 shows. On opening day (Friday), the film collected ₹2.10 crore net in India from 1,563 shows at roughly 30% occupancy, with most of the money coming from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The weekend lifted things nicely. Saturday brought in ₹3 crore net (1,641 shows, 37% occupancy) and Sunday added another ₹3.05 crore (1,656 shows, same occupancy). Monday saw the expected weekday dip to ₹1.55 crore net across 1,630 shows at 22% occupancy. By Tuesday (Day 5, still live), it had already picked up about ₹1.26 crore from 1,608 shows at 21% occupancy, taking the India net total past ₹10.9 crore and India gross to around ₹12.7 crore.
Overseas has contributed roughly ₹2 crore, pushing the worldwide gross above ₹11-13 crore range depending on final tallies. Most of the business continues to come from the Telugu states, with smaller contributions from Karnataka and elsewhere. Occupancy has held decently in places like Warangal and Bengaluru even as overall numbers settled into the low-20s on weekdays.
Budget figures haven’t been officially declared, so it’s early to talk recovery, but the film is holding screens and word-of-mouth around the comedy tracks (especially Sree Vishnu and Satya) seems to be keeping interest alive. For a mid-tier release, Comrade Kalyan is delivering a respectable, if not explosive, run so far—steady ticket sales, consistent shows, and audiences turning up for the laughs.
