Chhaki Suna has hit theatres today during the Raja season, bringing a fresh suspense thriller to Odia cinema. Starring Anubhav Mohanty in the lead, the film is the debut directorial venture of Manash Padhiary and has been eagerly awaited by fans looking for a proper murder mystery from Ollywood.
The story follows a sharp investigator who uses the childhood game of Chhaki Suna as an unconventional tool to track a serial killer. What begins as a clever strategy soon turns into a tense psychological game where the hunter and the hunted start blurring lines.
The narrative keeps the focus on the investigation and the mind games involved without relying on heavy action. Early audience reactions on X, Instagram, Facebook and BookMyShow have been largely positive.
Viewers are appreciating the intriguing premise built around the game, the suspenseful atmosphere and the slick technical execution. Anubhav Mohanty’s intense and commanding performance is getting good mentions, with many calling it one of his stronger recent turns. Direction and background score have also been praised for building tension effectively.
BookMyShow currently shows a rating of around 7.6/10 from over 140 votes, with tags highlighting awesome story, super direction and great acting. While a few viewers are waiting to see how the twists hold up in the second half, the overall sentiment right now is one of pleasant surprise and engagement with this content-driven thriller.
If you enjoy smart investigative stories and atmospheric suspense over loud action, Chhaki Suna should work for you. Its biggest strength is the fresh concept and polished presentation that feels different from regular regional fare.
On the weaker side, being a debut film it carries the usual questions about consistent pacing and payoff in the later portions. The theatrical experience helps in feeling the tension, so it is worth watching on the big screen if you like the genre.
Those who prefer to wait for confirmed word-of-mouth can hold off for the digital release.
Final Verdict: Chhaki Suna is a promising and engaging suspense thriller that brings a unique concept and strong early approval from audiences. It marks a confident debut for its director and gives Anubhav Mohanty a solid platform to shine. For fans of murder mysteries and well-made regional thrillers, it is a worthwhile theatrical watch this weekend.
