Balaramana Dinagalu carries the weight of expectations because of its director K.M. Chaitanya, who delivered one of the most respected crime dramas in Kannada cinema with Aa Dinagalu back in 2007. The film attempts to recreate a similar atmosphere by going back to the 1980s Bengaluru underworld, focusing on power struggles, crime, and the rise of its protagonist.

Vinod Prabhakar plays Balarama, a character that demands both mass appeal and intensity, and early indications suggest he has given a sincere performance. The period setting, costumes, and production design seem to have been handled with care, while Santhosh Narayanan’s music adds a strong layer to the film’s mood and emotional moments. Despite these efforts, the film has failed to connect with audiences on its opening day.
