Hanuman Ansh has given one of the most unusual box office stories of 2026. The Hindi devotional drama, based on the life of Neem Karoli Baba, opened very quietly on 7 August 2026. For almost two weeks it looked like a forgotten small film.
Then word of mouth took over, shows increased, and the film started climbing like few movies do in the third and fourth week. On Day 22, Friday, 28 August 2026, the film is having one of its strongest days so far. Early estimates put today’s India net around ₹3.95 crore from more than 2,400 shows.
With this, the total India net has moved to about ₹15.83 crore, while India gross is estimated around ₹18.56 crore. Worldwide is almost the same, as overseas is still negligible. The film had already crossed the ₹5 crore India net mark during its third-week surge, around Day 18.
That milestone looked big at the time. Now, just four days later, it has gone well past ₹10 crore and is sitting close to ₹16 crore net. That kind of jump is rare for a small-budget spiritual film with no major star.
How Hanuman Ansh Turned Around
Week 1 was modest. The film collected around ₹1.08 crore net. Week 2 dropped further to about ₹0.40 crore as screens reduced. Many in the trade had already written it off.
Then the third weekend changed everything. Sunday, 23 August, brought around ₹2.20 crore. Monday still held at ₹1.25 crore. Tuesday jumped again to ₹2.35 crore. Wednesday and Thursday stayed strong at ₹1.50 crore and ₹2.10 crore. Week 3 alone added about ₹10.40 crore net.
The reason is simple. Families, devotees and temple-town audiences started recommending the film. Occupancy improved. Exhibitors added shows. What began with a few hundred shows is now running in more than 2,400 shows on Day 22.

Budget, Verdict and What Comes Next
The official production budget has not been clearly confirmed by the makers. Trade reports have mentioned figures ranging from around ₹1.8 crore to higher estimates. Against even the higher talk, the current ₹15.83 crore India net already puts the film in a very healthy position.
For a U-certified spiritual drama with limited marketing, this is a clear success and heading towards hit territory if the weekend hold remains decent. Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi and led by Shobhinaw Satyaa, Hanuman Ansh is not competing with big Friday openers.
It is winning the old-fashioned way: people watching, talking, and bringing more people. Occupancy on Day 22 is healthy in several North and West centres, with evening shows looking particularly strong in NCR, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur and Chandigarh.
The next two days will decide how big the fourth weekend becomes. If Saturday and Sunday stay in the same range, the film can comfortably cross ₹20 crore gross in India. For a film that struggled to find screens in Week 2, that would be a remarkable finish. OTT details are not announced yet.
