Kunal Kemmu is back in the director’s chair, and this time he’s bringing chaos, friendship, and some seriously unwilling heroes with him. His second directorial after the hit Madgaon Express, the action-comedy Vibe is all set to hit theatres on September 18, 2026.

Amazon MGM Studios is presenting the film, which is produced by Kemmu and Chirag Nihalani under their banner Drongo Films — their first production together. The story follows two ordinary friends who can barely handle their own lives: Hardik (played by Kunal Kemmu) and Bugs (Sparsh Shrivastava).

These two hapless guys accidentally stumble into a terrorist plot and suddenly find the fate of the nation resting on their completely unprepared shoulders. Neither trained nor willing, they get pulled into a high-stakes mission that tests their survival instincts and, more importantly, their friendship.

Preity G Zinta plays a commanding, no-nonsense figure who drags the reluctant duo deeper into the danger. From the newly released teaser, she comes across as composed, confident, and several steps ahead of everyone else — pure boss energy.

The film also marks the Bollywood debut of Vanshika Dhir, with supporting turns from Dinesh Lal Yadav (Nirahua) and Yashpal Sharma. The official teaser dropped today (August 21) and it’s already got people laughing. It opens with the line that some heroes are born, some are trained… and some are simply kidnapped.

Hardik’s reaction to being told the country needs him is pure gold: if the nation is counting on him, things are already too late. He even suggests they send proper agents like Pathaan or Tiger instead. The meta jabs and the “zabardasti ke agents” vibe make it clear this is going to be a fun, chaotic ride rather than a straight-faced spy thriller.

Kemmu has written, directed, produced, and starred in the film, continuing the creative control he showed with Madgaon Express. After the success of that buddy comedy, expectations are high for this one too — especially with Sparsh Shrivastava (fresh off Laapataa Ladies) bringing his understated comic timing opposite Kemmu.

Interestingly, Vibe will clash at the box office with Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, on the same date. Family drama at the ticket counter, anyone? After its theatrical run, the film is expected to land on Prime Video at a later date.

If the teaser is any indication, Vibe looks like the kind of film that delivers both punches and punchlines. September 18 can’t come soon enough for fans of smart, silly, high-energy comedy.
