Ramayana Part 1 is making big waves right from the start. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and starring Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Yash as Ravana and Sai Pallavi as Sita, the film hit screens on 5 November 2026. Made on a reported budget of around ₹2000 crore for this first part (part of a larger ₹4000 crore two-film project), the epic has already crossed ₹221 crore worldwide in just two days.
Here’s how the numbers look day by day (all figures in gross):
Day 1 (Thursday, 5 November)
India: ₹77.50 crore
Overseas: ₹51.25 crore
Worldwide: ₹128.75 crore
The film ran across 25,200 shows with 36% occupancy. Hindi led the way strongly, while southern versions also chipped in nicely. Around 25 lakh tickets were sold on opening day alone.
Day 2 (Friday, 6 November)
India: ₹57.30 crore
Overseas: ₹35 crore
Worldwide: ₹92.30 crore
India net for the day stood at ₹48.05 crore (down about 26% from Day 1). Shows dropped slightly to 23,316 and occupancy settled at 28.9%. Hindi still dominated with ₹35.50 crore from nearly 20,000 shows. Kannada added ₹5.15 crore, Telugu ₹4.75 crore, Tamil ₹1.50 crore and Malayalam ₹1.15 crore. Roughly 18 lakh tickets were sold on Friday.
Two-day total
India net: ₹112.90 crore
India gross: ₹134.80 crore
Overseas: ₹86.25 crore
Worldwide gross: ₹221.05 crore
The drop on Friday is normal after a huge Thursday opening, especially with the festive weekend still ahead. Occupancy stayed healthy in key centres and the overseas response has been particularly strong, almost matching domestic numbers in the early days. Advance bookings for Saturday already look solid, with strong ticket sales reported across major cities.
Word of mouth is positive and the scale of the film is clearly connecting with audiences. With Diwali just around the corner, Ramayana is well placed to push further this weekend. The next few days will tell us how high this one can really go.
