About The Film

The Magic Faraway Tree is a 2026 fantasy adventure film directed by Ben Gregor. The screenplay was written by Simon Farnaby and is adapted from Enid Blyton’s long-running children’s book series The Faraway Tree.

The film is produced by Pippa Harris, Nicolas Brown, Danny Perkins and Jane Hooks. Vertical Entertainment is handling distribution in the United States.

The story follows a modern family parents Tim and Polly along with their three children who are forced to leave the city and move to a remote part of the English countryside.

As the children adjust to their new surroundings, they discover an extraordinary tree in the nearby woods. The tree is home to a group of unusual residents, including Moonface, Silky, Dame Washalot and Saucepan Man.

Climbing to the top of the tree opens doorways to a series of fantastical lands. Through their adventures in these worlds, the family begins to reconnect with one another. Andrew Garfield plays Tim Thompson and Claire Foy plays Polly Thompson.

Nonso Anozie appears as Moonface, Nicola Coughlan as Silky and Jessica Gunning as Dame Washalot. Supporting roles include Jennifer Saunders, Rebecca Ferguson and the young cast members Delilah Bennett-Cardy, Phoenix Laroche and Billie Gadsdon.

The film runs 110 minutes and is rated PG for some rude humor, mild action and brief language. It was released in the United Kingdom earlier in 2026 before arriving in US theatres.
