Udta Teer Movie Review

Udta Teer released in theatres on 23 October 2026. It is a Hindi spy comedy starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan. The film marks the directorial debut of Akash A Kaushik and comes from Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment. The movie takes a familiar spy setup and flips it with humour.

Early audience feedback has been largely positive about the laughs, with many calling out the situational comedy and supporting performances. Advance bookings were modest, and Day 1 collections are still coming in with low-to-moderate occupancy reported so far.The story follows a Pakistani intelligence agent who has been working undercover in India’s counter-terrorism unit.

After an accident, he loses his memory and wakes up believing he is a patriotic Indian officer. He remembers his love for his country but has forgotten which country it is. What follows is a series of mix-ups, mistaken identities, and chaotic situations as he tries to protect what he now believes is his nation while those around him struggle to understand his sudden change.

On social media, especially X, many viewers have praised the film’s comedy of errors. Ayushmann Khurrana’s comic timing and ability to play both the confused and committed sides of the character have been highlighted. Rahul Bose’s scenes, particularly the hospital sequences, and Mukul Dev’s performance have drawn strong appreciation for generating consistent laughs. Several people mentioned the witty one-liners, background score, and the way the film balances patriotism without becoming preachy.

Common complaints focus on the second half slowing down a bit as the patriotic and dramatic elements take more space, and some felt the plot occasionally struggles to fully balance satire with sentiment. Overall sentiment leans towards it being an entertaining, light watch for those who enjoy spy comedies with a desi twist.

This film will appeal most to audiences who like situational humour mixed with light action and a patriotic undercurrent. Its strengths lie in the lead performance, supporting comedy, and the fresh premise. Weaknesses include uneven pacing in the latter portions and limited depth in some supporting roles.

If you enjoy laughing in a theatre with family or friends and do not mind a slightly uneven second half, it is worth watching on the big screen. Those looking for a pure high-stakes spy thriller may prefer waiting for streaming.
