The movie hit screens with solid buzz as Mollywood’s first big mythic saga, riding on Kalyani’s rising star power and the director’s fresh take. Shot on a tight budget of just 30 crores, it exploded at the box office right away opening to over 6 crores worldwide and zooming past 65 crores in the first four days, with advance bookings going strong.
It crossed 100 crores in a week and 200 worldwide soon after, but slowed a tad with new releases and weekday dips. Still, it’s smashed records as the highest grossing Malayalam film ever and a massive profit maker, recovering way over budget and proving low-cost hits can rule.
