If you’ve been following the buzz around Naslen’s latest, Mollywood Times is finally heading to your screens at home. The film that released in theatres on June 5 has been one of the more talked-about Malayalam releases this summer, and its digital premiere is just around the corner.
Directed by Abhinav Sunder Nayak and written by Ramu Sunil, Mollywood Times is a psychological dark comedy that doubles as a sharp yet affectionate look at the film industry. Naslen plays Vineeth Madhavan, a young man from Kuttikkanam with big dreams of becoming Mollywood’s next big horror director.
What starts as a coming-of-age story quickly turns into a funny, sometimes biting commentary on the realities, absurdities, and quiet struggles inside the industry. It’s not just about one boy’s ambition — it’s about friendship, family expectations, and what happens when passion meets the messy business of making movies.
Theatres gave it a warm response. Audiences and critics have praised Naslen’s easy, lived-in performance and the way the film balances humour with genuine emotion without turning preachy. The supporting cast, including Sharafudheen and Sangeeth Prathap, adds plenty of colour, and the music (Jakes Bejoy) has been landing well with listeners.
At roughly two-and-a-half hours, it’s a bit long for some, but most people are walking out saying it feels fresh and oddly comforting. Now for the good news: Mollywood Times is set to stream on JioHotstar from July 3, 2026. It will be available in Malayalam with English subtitles, along with dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi right from day one.
That makes it accessible for a much wider audience across India and for many viewers abroad who follow Malayalam cinema. For those watching from the US or other international locations, JioHotstar remains the primary platform for now. Many diaspora families already have access through their subscriptions, and the multi-language dubs should help bring in newer viewers.
If you’re used to catching Mollywood on Netflix or Prime Video, this one might land there later, but July 3 on JioHotstar is the confirmed first stop. Whether you caught it in theatres or have been waiting for the home release, this looks like one of those films that rewards a relaxed watch with family or friends.
It’s funny, a little nostalgic, and carries that signature Mollywood warmth even while gently roasting the industry it comes from. Mark your calendar for July 3 — Mollywood Times is almost ready to stream.
