Gustaakh Ishq had a terrible start with just ₹0.50 crore net on opening Friday and then dropped on Saturday despite the weekend. The word of mouth is mixed to positive in limited circles, but the clash with Tere Ishk Mein and the super-niche poetic treatment kept mass audiences completely away. On Sunday (Day 3), the film is showing no real jump at all – early trends + live data point to a shocking ₹0.35–0.45 crore net close, taking the three-day weekend to barely ₹1.30–1.40 crore net.

About Gustaakh Ishq and Future Prediction
The film has got a lot of love from critics and the class audience for its beautiful poetry, Gulzar lyrics, Vishal Bhardwaj music, brilliant performances by Vijay Varma, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Naseeruddin Shah, and the old-world charm. Many are calling it a hidden gem and a modern cult classic in the making.
Unfortunately, the super-niche subject, slow pace and direct clash with the mass-appealing Tere Ishk Mein completely killed its chances at the box office. With many shows already cancelled from Monday, the film will struggle to even touch ₹3-4 crore lifetime in India. Overseas is negligible. It’s heading straight to OTT very soon – a big financial disaster for Stage5 Productions and Manish Malhotra’s debut production.
