Thaai Kizhavi Day 6 Box Office Collection

Radikaa Sarathkumar’s rural comedy-drama Thaai Kizhavi is quietly doing what the Tamil film industry has been waiting for — holding steady through the week without a dramatic crash. On Day 5 (Tuesday, March 3), the film collected an estimated ₹2.05 crore net in India, which is a slight but expected dip from Monday’s ₹2.85 crore. The overall 5-day India net collection has now crossed ₹18.65 crore, while the worldwide gross is comfortably sitting above ₹28 crore — an impressive figure for a non-star-driven, content-first film like this.

Now on Day 6 (Wednesday, March 4), early estimates suggest the film is likely to collect somewhere around ₹1.75–₹2.00 crore net in India. Weekday trends in Tamil cinema tend to dip slightly mid-week before recovering a bit toward Thursday and the second weekend. What’s encouraging here is that Thaai Kizhavi’s occupancy has held up decently across key Tamil Nadu markets like Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, and Trichy. B and C centres continue to be strong contributors, which is exactly the audience this film was made for.

The film’s trajectory has been one of the more pleasant stories in Kollywood so far in 2026. It opened on February 27 without massive advance booking numbers, but exploded over the first weekend through word-of-mouth. It already surpassed the 5-day total of With Love — another sleeper hit of this year — which says a lot about the kind of audience connect Thaai Kizhavi has built organically. The second weekend, starting this Friday, will be key in determining whether the film crosses the ₹30 crore net mark domestically.

About Thaai Kizhavi and Future Prediction

Thaai Kizhavi is directed by debutant Sivakumar Murugesan and produced jointly by Sivakarthikeyan Productions and Passion Studios under producers Sivakarthikeyan and Sudhan Sundaram. The film stars Radikaa Sarathkumar in the lead role of Pavunuthayi — a sharp-tongued, fiercely independent elderly moneylender in a Tamil Nadu village. When she falls critically ill, her estranged sons return home, only to begin hunting for a hidden fortune she’s rumoured to possess. The ensemble cast includes Aruldoss, Ilavarasu, George Maryan, Singampuli, Bala Saravanan, Munishkanth, Muthukumar, and Raichal Rabecca. Music is by Nivas K Prasanna, with cinematography by Vivek Vijayakumar and editing by San Lokesh.

The film’s budget is estimated at around ₹10 crore including marketing costs. Going by current numbers, the film has already recouped its investment well within the first weekend, making it a clear commercial success. The OTT rights have reportedly been picked up by Jio Hotstar, which adds to the overall revenue picture. Given its strong hold in Tamil Nadu’s B and C centres, and positive reviews still driving footfalls, the film stands a real chance of finishing its theatrical run somewhere between ₹25–28 crore net in India — which would be a remarkable result for a film of this budget and scale.

Looking ahead, the second weekend (starting March 7) will be decisive. If the film doesn’t face a big new Tamil release that directly competes for screens, it could add another ₹5–7 crore over the weekend. Trade observers are already calling Thaai Kizhavi the first proper HIT of Kollywood in 2026, and rightly so. It’s the kind of film that reminds the industry that you don’t always need stars or massive budgets — just a solid story, the right cast, and a production house with credibility.
