About The Film
Set in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles, the film follows twelve-year-old Lil Ant, who is overjoyed when his father, Big Ant, returns home after being incarcerated. Eager to reconnect, Lil Ant hopes to rebuild the bond between them, but his father, hardened by his own past struggles, has a harder time embracing his son’s imaginative, artistic view of the world.
As Lil Ant tries to navigate this strained relationship, he begins experiencing surreal, dreamlike visions, glimpsing figures drawn from Greek mythology and spectral images of other boys drifting through his neighborhood. These visions gradually reveal deeper, hidden connections between father and son, and speak to a shared heritage neither of them fully understands yet.
