About The Film
Bad Apples follows Maria, a devoted young primary school teacher whose classroom is thrown into chaos by one particularly disruptive student, Danny. As his behavior grows increasingly extreme and begins to affect the other children, Maria finds herself pushed past her limits, eventually making a series of questionable decisions in an attempt to restore order.
What starts as a fairly grounded story about a struggling teacher gradually spirals into something far stranger and darker, as Maria becomes caught between her own choices and a community that seems oddly unwilling to hold anyone accountable.
Mixing dark comedy with elements of thriller and social satire, the film explores how far someone might go when they feel unsupported and pushed to a breaking point, and what it reveals about the people and systems around them who’d rather look the other way. Critics have generally recommended going in without knowing too much, since the film takes some genuinely unexpected turns.
