Our Review
Midnight in Mullankolly is a suspense thriller where Akhil Marar plays a guy trapped in a creepy village at night, dealing with weird folks and secrets, directed by Babu John with Jaffer Idukki adding comic relief. It’s got some tense moments and rural vibes, but reviews say the story feels dragged, predictable twists, and amateurish execution like a low budget attempt that doesn’t fully thrill. Akhil’s debut is okay, but mixed bag overall fine for a quick watch if you like simple mysteries, but won’t wow.
What Worked
- Cool premise of friends in a remote village thriller trailer builds that isolated tension right away.
- Akhil Marar’s lead vibe guy’s got comic timing that fits the suspense twist perfectly.
- Troll buzz turning into free promo made it viral before even releasing.
What Didn’t Work
- Trailer might’ve shown too much hope the full plot has more layers.
- No big star power relying on story to pull crowds in a busy September.
- Music not revealed yet needs a solid score to amp up the chills.
