Our Review of One Battle After Another

One Battle After Another is a big action thriller where a group of old revolutionaries come together again after 1 years to save one friend’s daughter from their old enemy.

Leonardo DiCaprio plays a funny, down on luck guy who’s hiding, and he’s super in the role. Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro are also great as his old buddies.

Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the movie mixes wild action, comedy, and some deep stuff about politics and fighting back. The fights and chases are exciting, and it’s got a lot of laughs too. But sometimes it feels a bit crazy and over the top. Overall, it’s a fun, thrilling watch that makes you think, perfect for fans of big Hollywood movies.

What Worked

1. Leonardo DiCaprio’s intense performance as the committed leader grounds the high stakes plot.
2. Paul Thomas Anderson’s visionary direction and script make it both thrilling and thought provoking.
3. Jonny Greenwood’s music and the ensemble cast, like Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro, add layers of emotion and edge.

What Didn’t Work

1. Pre release hype is massive, but the high budget might set big expectations for box office returns.
2. As a political thriller, it could feel heavy or divisive for viewers wanting lighter fare.
3. Facing competition from other fall releases might split audiences initially.
