LIK box office collection

Released on 10 April 2026 | Tamil-language science fiction romantic comedy | Directed by Vignesh Shivan | Starring Pradeep Ranganathan, Krithi Shetty, and S. J. Suryah

Love Insurance Kompany, also known as LIK, is the latest release from director Vignesh Shivan and actor Pradeep Ranganathan. This futuristic romantic comedy arrived in theatres on 10 April 2026 and blends science fiction with light-hearted romance. Set in Chennai in the year 2040, the film explores how technology influences modern relationships through a unique “love insurance” app concept. With a runtime of approximately 157 minutes, it offers both entertainment and thoughtful commentary on digital intimacy.

The story follows a young man who holds traditional views on love. He meets a woman who relies heavily on advanced technology for her personal life. Their relationship is tested by the powerful company behind a popular dating and insurance platform. Without spoiling key moments, the film raises relevant questions about whether algorithms can truly understand human emotions. The premise feels fresh and connects well with current discussions about dating apps and data-driven connections.

Visually, the movie stands out with its impressive depiction of a near-future Chennai. The production design features flying vehicles, holographic displays, and sleek digital environments that appear realistic and engaging. Anirudh Ravichander’s soundtrack adds energy with a mix of modern beats and emotional romantic songs. The cinematography effectively contrasts the high-tech world with simpler, more human moments, strengthening the film’s central themes.

The performances are among the film’s strongest elements. Pradeep Ranganathan delivers a charming and believable portrayal of the traditional romantic lead, handling both comic and emotional scenes with ease. Krithi Shetty provides a solid performance as the tech-influenced character, though her role could have benefited from more depth. S. J. Suryah commands attention as the ambitious CEO of the Love Insurance Kompany, bringing both intensity and subtle humour. Supporting actors, including Yogi Babu and Seeman, contribute enjoyable moments of comedy.

While the first half builds the premise effectively with good pacing and creative world-building, the second half loses some momentum. The screenplay struggles to maintain its satirical tone and emotional impact, leading to a few lengthy sequences. Certain comedic parts feel overly broad, and the conclusion, though positive in intent, does not fully deliver on the promising setup.

Strengths

  • Innovative concept that feels timely
  • Strong visual effects and production design
  • Energetic music by Anirudh Ravichander
  • Capable lead performances

Areas for Improvement

  • Uneven pacing in the second half
  • Occasional lack of emotional depth
  • Resolution that could have been stronger

In conclusion, Love Insurance Kompany is an ambitious and entertaining film that brings originality to the Tamil romantic comedy genre. It successfully highlights important issues about technology and love in an accessible and visually appealing manner. However, minor flaws in pacing and execution prevent it from reaching its full potential.

Final Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

This movie is recommended for viewers who enjoy genre-blending stories and futuristic themes. It provides a light yet thoughtful escape and represents a commendable effort in innovative Indian cinema storytelling.
