Our Review
Eesha dives into a horror thriller realm where four rational friends venture to dismantle village superstitions, unwittingly summoning a potent spiritual entity that unveils haunting truths, directed by Srinivas Manne with Thrigun leading as the skeptic protagonist alongside Hebah Patel’s compelling support and Siri Hanmanth’s dynamic energy.
The plot intertwines scientific doubt with ancient folklore, reminiscent of Telugu chillers like Virupaksha, but carves its path through psychological unease and subtle scares rather than overt gore.
Mixed reviews average 2.5/5 across IMDb and regional sites, commending atmospheric tension and cinematography by Santosh Sanamoni, though noting familiar tropes; box office reports indicate a nil Day 1 India gross amid 2025’s crowded Christmas slate, against ₹10 crore budget, forecasting negligible totals unless buzz builds, contrasting successes like Masooda that leveraged word-of-mouth for over ₹10 crore.
Eesha’s niche focus on faith debates positions it for OTT appeal, where its compact runtime could attract viewers seeking thoughtful horrors in Tollywood’s genre mix. The film’s strength emerges in probing human vulnerability to the unknown, forgoing jump scares for creeping dread that echoes Kantara’s cultural roots yet with a modern rational twist emphasizing character growth.
Praise highlights RR Dhruvan’s score amplifying eerie vibes and ensemble chemistry adding authenticity, while critiques address pacing lulls and unresolved threads; collections confirm flop outlook with zero India net, highlighting indie thriller pitfalls in star-dominated markets.
Projections suggest minimal accumulation, similar to underperformers like Ooru Peru Bhairavakona, but its timeless clash of science and spirituality may cultivate discussions, potentially inspiring remakes in evolving Indian supernatural cinema. Against blockbusters like Avatar: Fire and Ash, Eesha opts for intimate intrigue, affirming narrative subtlety’s role beyond commercial gauges.
In essence, Eesha examines societal blind faith through investigative lenses, echoed in sparse social media chatter on X debating its twists. Aggregates from Sacnilk and Filmibeat lean mixed, lauding production design for village authenticity but noting VFX limitations curbing immersion.
Verified data from Wikipedia, Pinkvilla, and trade sources affirm its 2025 subdued entry amid festive rivals, anticipating capped earnings sans expansions. Relative to genre peers like recent flops, it avoids excess by prioritizing thematic depth, securing its place as a modest, reflective addition to Telugu horror’s diverse landscape.
