Our Review
Nizhal is a small-scale crime thriller that attempts to tell a story involving twin sisters whose lives are shattered when a brutal murder exposes the dark crimes of a powerful group. Directed by AK Kumar, the film aims to blend suspense and drama with social undertones.
Early indications suggest it is a content-driven project that relies more on its narrative and performances rather than high production values or mass elements. For audiences who prefer grounded thrillers with emotional layers, it may offer some engagement if the mystery and character dynamics work well. At the box office, Nizhal has opened to very poor collections on its first day.
Advance bookings were almost negligible, and theatre occupancy remained extremely low across Tamil Nadu. There was almost no visible buzz on social media or among exhibitors. The film has struggled to create any meaningful interest, even in its home state. Given the current trends, its theatrical prospects look very weak unless it generates exceptional word-of-mouth through strong reviews.
For a small-scale Tamil thriller, this kind of opening is quite disappointing and suggests a very short run in theatres. The film’s better chances likely lie on digital platforms later, where content-driven thrillers sometimes find an audience. For now, it has made an extremely quiet and weak start.
