Urabba is a Kannada movie, released on 19 June 2026 starring Naresh Gowda, Tanisha Kuppanda and Mimicry Gopi. The devotional thriller Urabba opened to a very quiet response at the Indian box office. A small-scale Kannada film directed by Shankar Lucky, it is set against the backdrop of the Ujjani Chowdeshwari Devi Festival and blends elements of devotion and thriller.

The film received limited theatrical exposure and failed to generate any significant pre-release buzz. On the worldwide front, Urabba registered negligible overseas collections. As a low-profile regional Kannada release without major star power or aggressive international marketing, its appeal remained confined to a handful of screens in Karnataka with almost no presence among the Kannada diaspora.

Our Review

Urabba is a devotional thriller directed by Shankar Lucky that attempts to combine elements of faith, emotion, action and mystery. The film stars Naresh Gowda in the lead role, alongside Tanisha Kuppanda and veteran actors like Doddanna and Mithra. The story appears to revolve around themes connected to the Sri Shaktipeeth Ujjani Choudeshwari Amma, while also trying to weave in a narrative involving love, humour and suspense.

In an industry where devotional films sometimes find success in Karnataka, Urabba was expected to attract at least family audiences and devotees. However, the film seems to have suffered due to weak promotion and lack of strong content-driven hype before release. At the box office, Urabba has opened to extremely poor collections. The numbers are quite low even for a small-scale Kannada film, indicating that the movie has failed to create any excitement among audiences.

With such a weak opening, the film is already under pressure to show a dramatic improvement over the weekend, which looks unlikely at this stage. Compared to other recent Kannada releases that managed to create some pre-release buzz, Urabba appears to have been largely ignored by the audience.

For the film to have any chance of survival, it will need exceptional word of mouth and strong reviews, which is a tough task given its current trajectory. Unless there is a miracle recovery in the coming days, Urabba is likely to end up as a commercial disappointment and may have to rely solely on its digital rights to minimise losses for the producers.
