Index
The film commenced its theatrical journey with a respectable opening powered by Pawan Kalyan’s enduring star appeal and the Ugadi festival holiday boost, drawing strong initial footfalls particularly in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana despite facing direct competition from another major release. It garnered decent collections driven by mass audience curiosity for the actor’s signature style and energetic action, establishing early momentum in Telugu-speaking regions, though mixed word-of-mouth on the screenplay and execution began to impact growth beyond the opening weekend.
Indian collections reflected solid regional dominance with supplementary contributions from other territories, highlighting the challenges of sustaining interest for big-budget star vehicles in a highly competitive 2026 theatrical environment. Worldwide, Ustaad Bhagat Singh demonstrated moderate overseas traction among the Telugu diaspora but could not expand significantly due to average reception, underscoring how content delivery and consistent audience connect remain critical even for high-profile releases.
Its performance highlighted the difficulties faced by large-scale Telugu action comedies that open well yet struggle with sharp weekday declines and limited pan-India appeal, setting a reference point for similar star-driven projects navigating mixed reviews and market saturation.

Our Review
Harish Shankar’s “Ustaad Bhagat Singh” is a full-throttle mass action thriller that leans heavily on Pawan Kalyan’s larger-than-life persona, delivering explosive fights, emotional family moments and patriotic fervour in a classic Telugu entertainer style. Pawan Kalyan brings his trademark intensity and charisma to the lead role, while Sreeleela and Raashii Khanna add glamour and emotional balance, and veterans like R. Parthiban and Ashutosh Rana lend weight to the conflict.
The film’s highlights include some well-shot action blocks and crowd-pleasing dialogues, though the storyline follows a familiar revenge-and-redemption path with few surprises. On a reported ₹120 crore budget, the production looks grand with impressive sets, crisp action choreography and Devi Sri Prasad’s energetic score that keeps the momentum alive.
Early audience feedback on social media and trade circles is mixed — fans celebrate the mass elements and Pawan Kalyan’s screen presence, but many note the predictable plot and lack of freshness compared to his recent hits. Box-office performance after three days shows a respectable but underwhelming start for a Pawan Kalyan film, with ₹62 crore gross so far. Day 1 opened at ₹37.50 crore with strong single-screen strength, but the clash with another big release caused a sharp 36% drop on Day 2 and further moderation on Sunday.
Theatre occupancy has been healthy in B and C centres but softer in multiplexes, reflecting divided word-of-mouth. Compared to Pawan Kalyan’s previous blockbusters or recent Tollywood openers, “Ustaad Bhagat Singh” is running average, proving that even star power faces challenges in a crowded festive window. Looking ahead, the film is expected to see some weekend recovery in mass belts and could cross respectable milestones if holds stabilise.
It is likely to move to major OTT platforms within the next two months, where its action-packed format and Pawan Kalyan’s stardom should find a wider audience. While theatrical numbers are decent rather than explosive, a well-timed digital release will extend its reach.
Overall, “Ustaad Bhagat Singh” is a confident, fan-friendly entertainer that delivers what its audience expects but feels a little routine in execution, reminding us that consistent star-driven mass cinema still holds strong appeal in Tollywood even amid tough competition. The team has delivered a solid commercial product that fans are enjoying on the big screen.
