Hyderabad, 5 December 2025:
In an unexpected turn of events, the much-awaited release of Akhanda 2 has been postponed, leading to widespread confusion among fans who were gearing up for Day 1 shows across India. The news surfaced shortly after BookMyShow began facing a platform-wide outage, displaying a “500 Internal Server Error” from around 2:20 PM IST on Friday.
Thousands of users took to social media reporting that they were unable to access show timings or book tickets. Many initially believed the server crash was caused by an overwhelming surge in traffic for Akhanda 2, as the film has been one of the most anticipated Telugu releases of the year.
However, sources from the exhibition sector later confirmed that the release has been officially postponed, though the new date is yet to be announced. Theater partners also reported that schedules were abruptly removed from backend systems, adding to the uncertainty.
Earlier Day 1 Estimates Now Invalid
Our publication had earlier released an article discussing the Day 1 early box office estimate for Akhanda 2 based on pre-release trends and buzz. With the postponement now confirmed, those projections stand withdrawn until a new release date is finalized.
BookMyShow Outage Raises Questions
BookMyShow’s continued downtime—lasting more than an hour at the time of reporting—has sparked speculation about whether the outage is linked to the sudden scheduling changes or a technical failure coinciding with peak traffic.
The ticketing platform has not yet issued an official statement addressing the cause of the 500 error.
Fans Disappointed but Hopeful
Fans, who have been waiting for Nandamuri Balakrishna’s return in the powerful Akhanda universe, expressed disappointment but remain hopeful that updated release plans will be announced soon.
The industry is now closely watching for clarification from the production house and BookMyShow, as both elements significantly impact the film’s opening weekend revenue potential.
We will update this story as more information becomes available.
