Our Review
As someone who has followed South Indian cinema for many years, I can say Peddi feels like a film made with real passion. Buchi Babu Sana, after his successful debut Uppena, has taken a big step with this sports action drama. The story of a villager fighting through sports reminds us of classic underdog tales but with modern mass appeal.
Ram Charan looks completely transformed after months of training. His physical look and energy in wrestling sequences are impressive. Janhvi Kapoor brings freshness as the female lead, while senior actors like Shiva Rajkumar and Jagapathi Babu give solid support. Divyendu Sharma could be a surprise in his role. A.R. Rahman’s music is already a big highlight, with anthems that give goosebumps.
What makes Peddi special is its rooted feeling. In today’s time of big VFX-heavy films, a story celebrating village pride, community, and sports feels refreshing. The 1980s period details look authentic, and R. Rathnavelu’s cinematography captures rural beauty well. If the second half delivers strong emotions and mass moments, this can become a family favourite.
On the box office side, with pre-release business reportedly around ₹220 crore worldwide, the film needs good numbers to recover its high budget. But with strong advance bookings and fan excitement, Day 1 could be huge in Telugu states. Overseas markets like North America are also showing interest. If reviews are good, Peddi has chances to do well and join the list of successful sports dramas. Compared to other big Telugu films, its pan-India sports theme gives it extra reach.
In the long run, Peddi could stay in people’s hearts even after its theatrical run, especially if it inspires young audiences. For Ram Charan fans, this is the kind of film they have been waiting for – full of energy, emotion, and entertainment. I am excited to see how it performs on the big screen.
