Index
The film opened to a very poor response at the box office. Despite critical acclaim for Bobby Deol’s performance and the film’s bold subject, it failed to attract audiences due to stiff competition from bigger releases like Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai and Peddi. Low screen count and limited buzz worked against it.

Our Review
Bandar is a bold and intense crime thriller that tackles a sensitive and disturbing subject with raw honesty. Anurag Kashyap’s signature style is evident in the film’s gritty tone and unflinching narrative. Bobby Deol delivers one of his career-best performances, bringing vulnerability and intensity to his role.
The film raises important questions about the justice system, media trials and personal reputation. While the subject is powerful, the execution is uneven in parts, and the film can feel heavy and disturbing for mainstream audiences.
It is not an easy watch but succeeds as a hard-hitting drama for those who appreciate serious cinema. At the box office, Bandar has opened to disastrous numbers. It registered one of the weakest openings for a film of its scale and has failed to gain any momentum. The film is struggling even in single screens and is likely to fade out very quickly.
With collections under ₹2 crore in the first three days against a budget of around ₹25-30 crore, the film is heading towards a massive flop. The lack of mass appeal and stiff competition from bigger releases have severely affected its prospects.
For Anurag Kashyap and Bobby Deol, this is a disappointing result. The film may find some appreciation among a niche audience on OTT, but theatrically it has been a complete failure. Bandar stands as another example of how even critically acclaimed films struggle to find an audience without strong commercial elements in today’s market.
