Our Review of Constable
Constable is a Telugu crime thriller where Varun Sandesh plays a cop dealing with a tough case involving mystery and suspense. Madhulika Varanasi and others support well, adding some emotional layers.
Directed by Aryan Subhan, it tries to build tension with twists, but the story feels a bit routine and slow in spots, without much new stuff. The action is okay, and it touches on police life, but could have been tighter.
What Worked
- Varun Sandesh’s natural performance as the constable brings a lot of heart to the role.
- The suspenseful plot with village mysteries keeps you hooked from start to end.
- The music and cinematography capture the rural Telugu vibe perfectly.
What Didn’t Work
- Some scenes drag a bit in the first half, could have been tighter.
- The female characters don’t get as much screen time or depth.
- Predictable twists if you’ve seen a lot of similar thrillers.
Facts and Behind the Scenes
Aryan Subhan SK not only directed Constable but also wrote and edited it, making it a true passion project for the newcomer. Shooting happened mostly in real locations around Hyderabad and Mokila to keep that authentic small town feel, and they wrapped up in early 2025 after some night shoots for the thriller parts. The motion poster dropped in August 2024, building hype, and not many know that Varun Sandesh trained in basic police drills to get into character, which adds realism to his action bits.
Another cool fact is that this is Madhulika Varanasi’s debut in Telugu films, coming from modeling, and the team kept the budget low by using fresh talent instead of big stars. The trailer, out in August 2025, has a raw edge with local dialects, and insiders say the film draws from real unsolved cases in Telangana villages, which most folks aren’t aware of but will find intriguing.
