Our Review of Avihitham
Avihitham is a Malayalam comedy drama set in a small town, where a guy comes home late and stumbles into family trouble that twists into laughs and real feelings. Unni Raj plays an everyday man with natural ease, dealing with surprises that hit close to home, while the rest of the cast brings a warm, chaotic family vibe.
Directed by Senna Hegde, it keeps things light yet thoughtful, with real dialogues and music adding to the fun scenes. Captures small town life, making viewers root for the characters. From reviews, it’s a nice entertainer balancing fun and feels, perfect for family watch, leaving you smiling and thinking.
What Worked
- Senna Hegde’s direction brings fresh humour and real emotions, just like his previous hit.
- The ensemble cast shines with natural acting, making the family dynamics feel authentic.
- The small town setting and thoughtful twists keep it engaging without being preachy.
What Didn’t Work
- Some bits might feel slow if you’re after non stop laughs.
- The supporting roles could have more spotlight in a few scenes.
- Stays grounded, so no big action or drama for those wanting masala.
Facts and Behind the Scenes
Avihitham comes from Senna Hegde, who took time after his award winning Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam to craft this one, basing it on Ambareesh Kalathera’s story. They shot mostly in real spots around Kanhangad to keep that local flavour, and the team wrapped up with a quirky announcement video that poked fun at rumours about the plot involving adultery ending with a line saying it’s not about that, which got fans talking. Not many know the film got a U/A 13+ rating, making it family friendly yet bold in themes.
Another exciting fact is the tagline “Not just a man’s right,” hinting at deeper talks on relationships, and the cast includes many fresh faces from the region for that real touch. Most folks aren’t aware that Senna co-produced it too, keeping creative control, and they did preview shows that got rave reviews for the balance of humour and heart. Shooting included fun night scenes to match the teaser’s vibe, building a close knit crew feel.
