Dodmansa is a typical debut-level commercial attempt that tries to blend action, romance and mass elements but lacks the star power and strong pre-release hype needed to pull audiences in the current market. The story of a village boy chasing his acting dream in Bangalore while working as an auto driver had some relatable potential, and the decision to promote it among auto drivers was a smart touch.

However, the film appears to be suffering from average execution, limited marketing reach, and very weak word-of-mouth even before release. Early feedback suggests it is a routine entertainer that fails to stand out among the many small films releasing in Sandalwood. On the box office front, Dodmansa has delivered one of the weakest openings for a Kannada film in recent times.

With extremely low advance bookings and poor theatre occupancy across Karnataka, the film is already in a very difficult position. In the current scenario where even mid-budget films need strong buzz to survive, Dodmansa is struggling badly on day one itself.
