CBFC Problem for Parasakthi Movie

Big trouble for Sivakarthikeyan’s new film Parasakthi. CBFC not giving certificate yet. They asked for 15 more cuts today, plus old ones. Movie makers planning to go to revision committee. If they do that, release will delay by 2-3 weeks. Already shows cancelling in Netherlands.

Parasakthi is socio-political drama directed by Sudha Kongara. Release date was Pongal, January 10, 2026. CBFC reviewed on January 7 and wanted 23 cuts total. Cuts mainly on scenes about 1960s anti-Hindi protests in Tamil Nadu. These parts are heart of story, mixing history with today’s tale. Director Sudha says no to cuts, as it will spoil film’s real feel. “Story from true history; cutting it kills freedom,” said one from production.

Now team appealing to Revising Committee in Mumbai. Process can take weeks, clashing with Pongal holiday. Same issue for Vijay’s Jana Nayagan movie. Whole Tamil industry talking about too much censor and politics.

Overseas, Netherlands screenings stopped, fans sad. Distributors like Tirupur Subramaniam hope for okay by January 9. But bookings started, ads running full speed. Delay means big money loss for this costly film.

Parasakthi shows Sivakarthikeyan in serious role, with good co-stars and tech team. Kollywood worried Pongal will be boring without big films. People asking to change CBFC rules. Will Parasakthi get through? Fans waiting eagerly.
