The narrative blends comedy in the first half with horror elements in the latter, exploring themes of fear and suspense through innovative storytelling, though it starts slow and builds engagement gradually. As of 31 January 2026, the film has completed its opening day, with early reports indicating a subdued performance typical for a low-budget genre film without major star power.
Advance bookings were modest, and Day 1 grossed approximately ₹0.10 crore in India, reflecting limited occupancy in urban and semi-urban Karnataka centres. Worldwide figures remain preliminary, with negligible overseas contributions at this stage. The film’s prospects will depend on word-of-mouth growth over the weekend.

Our Review
Seat Edge marks a notable entry in Kannada horror thrillers, directed by Chethan Shetty, who crafts a narrative that transitions from comedic undertones to chilling suspense, exploring fear through innovative ideas in its latter half. Siddu Moolimani and Raviksha Shetty lead with committed performances, supported by Raghu Ramanakoppa and Girish Shivanna, creating a blend of humor and horror that engages genre fans despite a slower start.
The film’s strength lies in its atmospheric buildup and clever twists, though pacing issues in the initial segments may test viewer patience. With its release on 30 January 2026, early reviews highlight the film’s ability to keep audiences engaged through its evolving tone, earning praise for not redefining the genre but offering fresh elements. Compared to recent Kannada thrillers emphasizing content over spectacle, Seat Edge aligns with mid-budget projects that rely on word-of-mouth rather than star-driven appeal.
Its ₹5 crore budget sets a low breakeven threshold, potentially around ₹10-12 crore gross, providing resilience against a modest opening. Current estimates suggest a cautious launch, consistent with films that build momentum gradually. The film’s trajectory will depend on weekend turnout, family and youth viewership, and emerging reviews amid competition.
Positive feedback could drive steady growth, similar to understated successes that capitalize on intrigue despite limited hype. If buzz remains muted, it may conclude as an average performer. Overall, Seat Edge offers a competent, engaging thriller that contributes to Kannada cinema’s diverse landscape, with its commercial outcome hinging on sustained theatrical response in the coming days.
