Our Review of Thanal
Thanal is like one of those intense revenge thrillers that starts off strong with Atharvaa’s solid performance as the cop turned hero, and Lavanya Tripathi adds some emotional depth. The action scenes are gritty and keep you hooked, but man, the pacing goes haywire in the middle with some unnecessary side stories that drag it down. It’s got that raw Tamil cinema feel, but the tone shifts too much, making it hard to stay fully engaged. Overall, decent watch if you like thrillers, but not a total banger
What Worked
- Solid cast with Atharvaa and a strong villain role for Ashwin Kakumanu gives weight.
- The action suspense teaser/trailer has been well received intense sequences, conflict setup.
- Technical team with experienced names (music, cinematography) adds credibility.
What Didn’t Work
- 1. Low key pre release hype might struggle against bigger Tamil releases.
- 2. Modest budget limits scale hope the action feels impactful anyway.
- 3. Dubbed versions’ sync issues could affect pan India reach if not tight.
