Aatti is a small-scale period crime thriller that attempts to explore themes of justice, dignity and revenge in a 1970s tea-estate setting. The story centres on a young teacher whose life is upended by misconduct, leading to a murder and subsequent police investigation. Director T. Kittu has opted for a grounded, realistic tone rather than high drama.

Esakki Karvannan and Abi Nakshathra lead the cast, supported by actors like Kadhal Sugumar. While the premise carries emotional weight and the period setting adds texture, the film’s limited scale and execution have kept it from making a significant impact. It feels like a sincere effort from a small team, but lacks the writing strength or cinematic flair needed to stand out in the thriller genre.
