About The Film
Maliput Melodies is set in the fictional village of Maliput, drawing inspiration from Koraput and the spirit of Deomali in southern Odisha.
Rather than following a single storyline, the film weaves together four interlinked stories, each capturing a different slice of life in this rural, tribal community. Kanaphula, meaning earrings, centres on a small, meaningful gift and the emotions tied to it.
Rangamati, named after the region’s red soil, draws its story from the land itself and the lives shaped by it. Baidakaria follows the world of a local musician, exploring themes of waiting, hope and the pull of tradition.
Subha Bibhaghara turns its attention to a family preparing for a wedding, capturing the anticipation and quiet tensions that come with it. Running through these four stories are recurring threads of friendship, migration, music, marriage, disappointment and the fear of change, all set against the everyday rhythms of village life.
