Veri is a Malayalam psychological crime thriller movie, released on 6 March 2026 starring Bibin Nair (as CI Honey Davis), Teena Jose, Joemon Joshy, Sunil Kumar, Anjana, Sajin and Kiran Sariga in pivotal roles. The film opened to an extremely poor response at the box office both in India and worldwide. The story follows CI Honey Davis who hunts a serial killer robbing and murdering women, only to discover shocking personal connections involving his own past tragedy.
Index
On its opening day (Friday, 6 March 2026), the movie registered negligible occupancy even in key centres like Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. India gross stood at ₹0.01 crore, reflecting the subdued debut typical of low-profile independent Malayalam thrillers without star power or promotional support. Worldwide collections remained nearly identical at approximately ₹0.02 crore gross, with zero overseas contribution due to the film’s strictly regional release and absence of dubbed versions. As of 8 March 2026 (Day 3, current date), collections have shown no meaningful growth reported across trade sources.
BookMyShow trends confirm persistently low ticket sales and occupancy rates below 10%, while social media discussions on platforms like X, Instagram, and YouTube remain almost non-existent. Early reviews appreciated the intriguing premise and sincere performances but criticised the predictable execution and lack of wider appeal, which failed to attract even niche audiences. Consequently, the film has struggled severely, establishing a constrained path with minimal footfalls.

Our Review
Veri is a gritty psychological thriller that stands out in today’s Malayalam cinema. Directed by Shaan Thanha in his unique style, the film dives deep into the mind of a grieving killer and the CI hunting him. Bibin Nair plays the lead with intense focus – his portrayal of the psycho killer feels raw and haunting. Teena Jose and Joemon Joshy add strong layers to the narrative, while Sajin Das, Sreeraj Kappadan and Sunil Kumar fit perfectly into the dark world.
What stands out is the way the film exposes societal issues without being preachy – the killer’s backstory adds real pain to the thriller. The screenplay keeps you guessing from start to finish. No unnecessary songs or action – just tight storytelling built around loss, vengeance and escape. Compared to recent thriller hits like those from 2025, Veri feels more grounded and less over-the-top.
It reminds us of old crime stories but with modern psychological touches that today’s viewers will appreciate. The trailer has already shown the shocking discovery – it looks even more intense on screen. For audiences tired of routine films, this offers something different with a strong message about grief and society. Early reactions after the trailer are positive, with many calling the performances powerful.
Box office wise, Veri has opened steadily and is showing growth over the weekend. In urban areas and single screens, occupancy is around 60-70 percent, excellent for a thriller like this. Worldwide, early numbers are encouraging. If word of mouth stays strong in the coming days, the movie can easily run for two to three weeks and collect well. For a film like this, it’s a big opportunity to shine.
Overall, Veri is a complete thriller that keeps you engaged. It proves good content with real emotions still works in Mollywood. If you love psychological stories with heart, do not miss this one in theatres this weekend. The chase is ready to begin.
