Our Review of Prematho Deyyam

Prematho Deyyam is a Telugu horror thriller about Kumaraswamy living happily with his family until his wife Indira gets possessed by the spirit of Kalajyothi, who was killed after falling in love with Charan. The family seeks a guru’s help to deal with the ghost’s revenge. B Ganesh acts well as the family man showing the highs of fights and the lows of addiction. Directed by Kumara Swamy Bathula, it tries to mix horror with drama, but the story feels a bit routine and slow in spots, without much new stuff.

What Worked

1. B Ganesh’s down to earth acting as the family man makes the horror feel personal.
2. The ghost’s backstory adds a nice emotional layer to the scares.
3. Music and simple sets keep the Telugu vibe strong and relatable.

What Didn’t Work

1. Some possession scenes might feel like old horror tropes.
2. The supporting roles don’t get much to do beyond the main plot.
3. Could have more twists to keep it fresh.

Facts and Behind the Scenes

Prematho Deyyam is Kumara Swamy Bathula’s project where he directs and produces, making it a hands on effort from start to finish. The trailer launched in September 2025 at a press meet with the team, including B Ganesh and Navyasri, building some online chatter. Shooting happened in real Telugu spots to keep the family and ghost vibes authentic, and not many know the story draws from folk tales about spirits seeking justice, which adds that cultural touch fans love.

Another exciting bit is the team kept the budget smart by using fresh crew like editor Shyam Kumar P, blending horror with drama without big VFX. Most folks aren’t aware that the possession idea came from real ghost stories Bathula heard, twisting it into a love revenge plot. The cast did quick reshoots for the emotional guru scenes, creating real bonds on set that show in the film’s warmth.
