Rakta Golapa Budget | Collection | OTT | Hit/Flop

Rakta Golapa is an Odia suspense thriller, released on 13 February 2026, starring Elina Samantray, Abhishek Giri, and Choudhury Jayaprakash Das. Directed by the duo Peenakee Singh and Sisir Kumar Sahu, the film is a dark, investigative drama that follows a woman’s relentless pursuit of truth after her husband’s suspicious death by suicide just months after their marriage.

Released as part of a Valentine’s Day double-bill for Ollywood (alongside Bara Badhu), it carved out a niche for fans of gritty, edge-of-the-seat cinema. The film opened with a steady occupancy of 12–14% in major centers like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Rourkela. On Day 1, Rakta Golapa earned approximately ₹0.01 crore net in the Indian market.

While the opening numbers appear low, they are typical for a non-masala, “A” rated suspense thriller in the regional circuit during its first 24 hours. The film has generated significant interest on BookMyShow, with over 600+ “interested” votes, and is seeing a positive trend in evening shows as thriller enthusiasts spread word about its shocking climax. Globally, the collection remains centered in the Odisha territory, with a gross of ₹0.01 crore.

Our Review

Rakta Golapa is a bold departure from the typical romantic fare that usually floods theaters during Valentine’s week. Directors Peenakee Singh and Sisir Kumar Sahu craft a “whodunit” that feels genuinely atmospheric and grounded. Elina Samantray delivers one of her career-best performances; her transition from a grieving widow to a cold, calculated investigator is handled with remarkable maturity.

Abhishek Giri and Samaresh Routray provide solid support, but it is Choudhury Jayaprakash Das who steals several scenes with his nuanced portrayal of the grieving father-in-law. The film’s strongest point is its non-linear narrative, which keeps the audience guessing until the very end. The cinematography by Yudhistra Behera uses a muted color palette that perfectly complements the “Dark Rose” (Rakta Golapa) theme.

However, the film is not for the faint of heart; its “A” rating is earned through some intense psychological sequences and a grim tone that never lets up. At 140 minutes, the second act feels slightly stretched, but the final 20-minute revelation is so well-executed that it justifies the wait. It’s a sophisticated thriller that respects the intelligence of the Odia audience.

Commercially, the film is a niche play. By releasing alongside the more family-friendly Bara Badhu, it has successfully captured the youth and adult demographic looking for a “date night” movie with a twist.

While it may not reach the mass numbers of a commercial potboiler, its low budget and high engagement levels suggest it will be a profitable venture for the producers. For fans of the suspense-thriller genre, Rakta Golapa is a “bloody good” watch that proves Ollywood can handle mature themes with finesse.
