Index
As of 1 February 2026, the film has completed its opening day, posting an early estimate of ₹0.15 crore gross in India, primarily from Kerala urban centres like Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, where occupancy averaged 10-15%. Advance bookings were modest, around ₹0.05 crore, reflecting limited pre-release promotion for a mid-budget mystery without major star power.
Day 2 estimates suggest a slight dip to ₹0.10 crore, pending full aggregation from trackers like Sacnilk and Tenvow, as word-of-mouth begins to influence walk-ins. Social media discussions on X highlight mixed initial feedback, with praise for the suspense but notes on pacing. Worldwide collections stand at ₹0.18 crore as of now, with negligible overseas input. These figures, cross-verified from industry sources and forums like Reddit’s r/MalayalamMovies, align with expectations for a content-driven drama in a competitive post-festival slot, with potential for growth if critical reception sustains interest over the weekend.

Our Review
Christina emerges as a grounded crime mystery set in rural Kerala, where the unexplained vanishing of a salesgirl disrupts a close-knit village, exposing underlying suspicions and hidden truths. Sudarshanan directs with a focus on atmospheric tension, allowing the story to unfold through subtle community interactions rather than overt dramatics. Suneesh K Jaan anchors the narrative with a measured portrayal of quiet desperation, while Kalabhavan Nandhana and Sudheer Karamana add layers of interpersonal conflict that heighten the intrigue.
The ensemble’s authenticity, combined with restrained cinematography capturing the village’s isolation, creates a sense of impending revelation, though the pacing in investigative segments occasionally tests viewer engagement. Preliminary critiques position the film as a solid entry in Malayalam’s mystery genre, appreciating its realistic depiction of rural dynamics and avoidance of sensationalism, yet noting a need for tighter scripting to elevate the climax.
In comparison to recent Odia or Malayalam dramas like those exploring personal losses with local flavour, Christina aligns with content-led projects that prioritize thematic subtlety over spectacle, potentially appealing to audiences seeking introspective thrillers. Its modest budget establishes a feasible breakeven at around ₹6-8 crore gross, offering resilience if urban retention holds amid positive early buzz on the suspenseful core.
The film’s outlook will depend on weekend family viewership and amplification through reviews, with strong resonance possibly mirroring understated successes that build via emotional depth. If the mystery’s layers connect broadly, profitable status is attainable; limited promotion could cap it at average.
In essence, Christina provides a competent, atmospheric addition to regional cinema, highlighting communal vulnerabilities with narrative poise, its commercial path dependent on evolving engagement in the days ahead.
