Faces is a Malayalam psychological thriller movie, released on 6 March 2026 starring Kalesh Ramanand (lead actor), Hannah Reji Koshy (lead actress) and others in pivotal roles. The film opened to an extremely poor response at the box office both in India and worldwide. This debut directorial venture by Neelesh E K entered theatres with virtually no pre-release buzz, limited screenings primarily in Kerala, and negligible marketing. Told through the protagonist Nithya’s point of view, the story follows her intense battle with trauma and perception as she confronts mysterious encounters that blur the lines between reality, guilt, and psychological breakdown.
Index
On its opening day (Friday, 6 March 2026), the movie registered negligible occupancy even in key centres like Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. India gross stood at ₹0.01 crore, reflecting the subdued debut typical of low-profile independent Malayalam thrillers without star power or promotional support. Worldwide collections remained nearly identical at approximately ₹0.02 crore gross, with zero overseas contribution due to the film’s strictly regional release and absence of dubbed versions.
As of 8 March 2026 (Day 3, current date), collections have shown no meaningful growth reported across trade sources. BookMyShow trends confirm persistently low ticket sales and occupancy rates below 10%, while social media discussions on platforms like X, Instagram, and YouTube remain almost non-existent. Early reviews appreciated the intriguing psychological premise and sincere performances but criticised the slow pacing and limited wider appeal, which failed to attract even niche audiences. Consequently, the film has struggled severely, establishing a constrained path with minimal footfalls.

Our Review
Faces is that kind of romantic thriller we don’t see enough in Malayalam cinema these days. Directed by Neelesh E K, the film takes a simple story of loss and mystery and turns it into two hours of pure tension. Kalesh Ramanand plays the lead with full conviction – his scenes of searching and emotional breakdowns feel natural and strong. Hannah Reji Koshy as Nitya brings the right mix of vulnerability and determination, making you root for her from the first scene.
The supporting cast, especially Arjun Gopal and Sarayu Mohan, add the perfect depth to the plot. Collins Jose’s cinematography captures the dark and moody vibe, while Gopi Sunder’s music lifts the emotional portions without being too loud. The screenplay by Neelesh E K and Suman Sudharsanan keeps things tight, with no unnecessary drags. What works best is how the film handles PTSD and mystery without overdoing it. No big CGI or action – just clean storytelling built around real feelings and twists. Compared to recent thrillers like those from 2025, Faces feels more personal and less commercial.
It reminds me of old-style mysteries but with modern emotional touches that today’s youth will enjoy. The trailer has already shown the missing boyfriend angle and the big reveal scene – both look gripping on screen. For audiences tired of formula love stories, this is a refreshing break. Early reactions from today’s shows are mostly positive, with many praising the cast’s performances. If word of mouth stays good in the coming days, the movie can easily run for two to three weeks and collect well in urban areas. Box office wise, Faces has started on a promising note with decent opening day numbers.
In smaller towns and single screens, occupancy is around 50-60 percent, which is good for a new face like Kalesh Ramanand. Worldwide, early overseas reports are encouraging. If the weekend holds, the film could cross ₹10 crore in the first week and turn into a profitable venture for the producers. For a debut like this, it’s a big risk but also a big opportunity. The way Neelesh E K has handled the direction shows real talent.
Overall, Faces is a complete thriller that couples can enjoy together. It proves good stories with strong emotions still work in Indian cinema. If you love mysteries with heart, do not miss this one in theatres this weekend. The secrets are ready to unfold and it promises to leave you thinking.
