Paree Odia Movie | Budget & Collection | Hit/Flop

Paree: An Unsolved Mystery is an Odia-language drama mystery film directed by Tripati Sahu and produced under Babu Bhai Production. Released on 30 January 2026, the film stars Jyoti Ranjan Nayak as Guru Pangi, Anuradha Panigrahi as Puja, Sritam Das, and Pradyumna Lenka in key roles. The plot centres on a respected teacher in a remote village whose life unravels following the mysterious death of his daughter, leading to themes of grief, suspicion, and unresolved enigmas within the community.

As of 1 February 2026, 11:15 AM IST, the film has concluded its opening day, achieving an estimated India gross of ₹0.30 crore on Day 1, primarily from limited screens in Odisha urban centres like Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, where occupancy averaged 15-25%. Advance bookings were modest, contributing around ₹0.1 crore, indicating reliance on walk-ins rather than pre-release hype.

Early Day 2 estimates suggest a hold at ₹0.25 crore, pending full aggregation from trackers like Sacnilk and Tenvow, as family audiences in semi-urban areas may support incremental growth. Worldwide collections remain aligned with domestic figures at this stage, with negligible overseas contributions reported. These numbers, sourced from industry reports and social media discussions on platforms such as Facebook and X, reflect a cautious launch for a mid-budget Odia drama in a competitive post-festival window.

Our Review

Paree: An Unsolved Mystery crafts a narrative of quiet devastation in rural Odisha, where a teacher’s idyllic existence fractures under the weight of his daughter’s enigmatic passing, probing themes of loss, communal doubt, and the pursuit of closure. Tripati Sahu directs with a measured hand, allowing the village’s isolation to amplify the emotional isolation of the leads, with Jyoti Ranjan Nayak conveying restrained anguish as the grieving father and Anuradha Panigrahi adding layers of quiet strength as his partner.

The ensemble, including Sritam Das and Pradyumna Lenka, enriches the interpersonal suspicions, while technical choices like subdued cinematography and a haunting score underscore the story’s introspective tone without overt sensationalism. Early feedback from screenings values the film’s authentic portrayal of rural grief and its avoidance of melodramatic excess, though some note a deliberate rhythm that may require viewer commitment to fully engage.

Relative to recent Odia dramas addressing personal tragedies with local nuance, Paree aligns with content-led projects that prioritize thematic sincerity over commercial flair, potentially appealing to audiences seeking reflective cinema. Its modest budget establishes a feasible breakeven at around ₹8-10 crore gross, offering leeway against a moderate debut if critical support builds. The film’s potential will rest on weekend family turnout and local endorsements in a competitive environment.

Strong resonance could parallel understated successes that accumulate through emotional appeal; otherwise, it might achieve niche results. In summary, Paree: An Unsolved Mystery contributes a thoughtful, grounded addition to Odia storytelling, highlighting human vulnerability amid unanswered questions, with its commercial course shaped by progressive viewer dynamics.
