Amaravathiki Aahvanam Collection | Budget | Hit/Flop

Amaravathiki Aahvanam is a Telugu horror-thriller, released on 13 February 2026, starring Siva Kantamaneni, Dhanya Balakrishna, Ester Noronha, and Supritha Bandaru. Directed by GVK and produced by R. Venkateswara Rao under the Lighthouse Cine Magic banner, the film presents a bone-chilling narrative about an anonymous challenge that lures a family into a haunted zamindari mansion in the village of Amaravathi.

Released alongside a wave of Valentine’s Day content like Funky and O Romeo, the film aimed for the horror-loving audience, opening with a respectable occupancy of 12–15% in the Telugu states. On Day 1, Amaravathiki Aahvanam earned approximately ₹0.19 crore net in the Indian market. The film saw its best performance in B and C centers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where the “pure horror” genre traditionally holds a strong grip.

Worldwide, the first-day gross collection reached ₹0.21 crore. While it didn’t ignite the box office like a major star vehicle, it has shown a steady trend in evening shows, and today (Saturday), it is benefiting from the general holiday rush.

Our Review

Amaravathiki Aahvanam is a visceral thriller that manages to transcend the tired tropes of the haunted house genre. Director GVK deserves credit for not just relying on jump scares but building a genuine atmosphere of dread. The film’s unique hook—connecting a modern influencer’s quest for “fame” with a dark, historical mystery—feels very relevant to today’s audience.

Siva Kantamaneni delivers a grounded performance as the protective father, but it is the trio of heroines—Dhanya Balakrishna, Ester Noronha, and Supritha—who steal the show. Their shifting dynamics as they face supernatural terrors provide the film’s emotional core. Technically, the film punches above its weight.

The cinematography by J. Prabhakar Reddy effectively uses shadows and lighting to make the old mansion feel like a living, breathing antagonist. The background score by Padmanabh Bharadwaaj is chilling and avoids the usual “loudness” associated with Indian horror films. While the first half takes its time to set up the family’s journey, the second half is a breakneck ride filled with twists that actually land.

The climax, in particular, offers a refreshing take on the “vengeful spirit” arc that many viewers will appreciate. Commercially, the film is in a “safe” territory. With a modest budget of around ₹3 crore and a decent opening day of ₹19 lakh, it doesn’t need a miracle to become profitable.

Its biggest challenge remains the heavy-duty competition from other romantic and action releases this weekend. However, as the only dedicated “scary” movie in the current lineup, it has a clear USP. If you’re tired of the Valentine’s Day sweetness and want something to keep you up at night, Amaravathiki Aahvanam is a well-crafted invitation worth accepting.
